On the hunt for a new favorite dessert!

For the longest time, I'm on the great journey of finding the best dessert after getting a full-belly meal. Was it Rita's flavored shaved ice topped with creamy frozen custard? It just might be! I wasn't expecting the amount of serving, having been used to the tiny cups of other Western frozen treats. Easy to say I was more than satiated with the treat I ordered. There was a certain heaviness to custard as a contrast to the "fluffiness" creams tend to have; it was a good combination with the flavored ice. (I find it weird though: I was used to seeing ice cream as just one thing and not separately as Rita's treats are: literally just custard on ice. Haha. I might have to cheat on my all-time favorite ice cream for this new found gem!)

Unfortunately, the sweetness of the dessert wasn't fully enjoyed to the lack of space-- there weren't enough tables and chairs, so my friends and I had to move to the open area UPTC has. Hopefully they expand their area (I think they are? I wasn't able to recall any more detail other than the food. Teehee.)

A standout amongst the many choices along Maginhawa Street

Okay, what I may say might be biased because I can't resist good Italian food, but I am never wrong when I say good Italian food. :D Maginhawa Street provides a plethora of food choices, from the pang-masa favorite, Tapsilog to a bit more foreign like Asian, Arabic, and-- praise the food gods!-- Italian! It is easy to get overwhelmed and ending up at a more familiar restaurant. If you're new to Maginhawa, I definitely recommend Friuli Trattoria. If you're a resident foodie, I also recommend you to come drop by this place. For a reasonable price just right for students, which compromises most of the people you'll find along this street, you can get pizza (PHP 200~300, good for 2 if you're getting pasta/snacks) and pasta (around PHP 150, good for 2 if you're getting pizza/snacks too), and finger-food snacks like Mozzarella Sticks. Their pizza has the right amount of cheese, herbs, and toppings; the pasta is delicious, you can really taste either the creamy sauce of Carbonara or the tanginess of tomato sauce.

Not a good place to spend too much time at, though, since it always feels like a busy place. Also not recommended to drop by during peak hours. A good time will be past 8PM or before the dinner rush, so you get better service.
